Uinta Wind Soap

Essential Oils:  Spruce, Fir Needle, Balsam Peru, Lemongrass

There is a unique mountain range in Utah, and is the only range in the contiguous United States that runs east-west.  It boasts the highest peak in Utah, Kings Peak at 13,528 feet elevation.  It’s part of the Rocky mountain range that runs north to south from Canada to the western point of Texas.  With over a thousand natural lakes and over 400 miles of streams, the Uinta mountain range supports a large array of wildlife.

As I was developing the essential oil formula for this soap, it had to be for the outdoor enthusiast, the adventurer, the altitude seeker.  Someone who thrived in the woods and would rather be at some high elevation, with a pack strapped to the back hearing the wonderful sound of a gentle breeze rustling the pine and quaky trees, pausing just after the step of a boot crunches the earth.  Lifting the chin slightly, and inhaling deeply……awe, there it is.  That wonderful scent of pine and earth that just matches no other for those that are true lovers of the outdoors!

I grew up in that world as my parents were outdoor enthusiasts and I spent a great deal of my childhood roaming the Uinta Mountain range.  That delightful scent of pine and earth calms me.  Maybe because it brings back such loving memories of exploring and time spent together.  For my father he loved this mountain range, so much so, he named the best hunting dog he ever had after them—a papered golden retriever that could sniff out a duck even if it were underwater.  My siblings and I grew up with her and enjoyed many outdoor adventures together.

So as I was formulating this bar of soap for the outdoor adventurer, I realized that no name could better suit than the name of those mountains, the wind rustling through the trees and bringing that magical scent to the olfactory, it just had to be Uinta Wind.

Some of the most drying environments are alpine climates. It’s why Uinta Wind is super-fatted with Shea Butter, Mango Butter, Castor Oil and Aloe Vera Butter–to prevent dryness after bathing. In addition, there’s organic sea kelp powder which is full of minerals like iodine which can help prevent flakiness & calm & soothe dry skin. Sea kelp is rich in antioxidants, which are known to help protect skin against UVA rays, external aggressors and daily pollution. All very important for altitude seekers!
